Half Marathon

This summer I ran my first half marathon. I trained really hard and had a goal of finishing under 2 hours. Which according to my training session would have been very possible, but my bad luck decided to show up on the day of the race and give me the FLU!! I woke up the morning of the race feeling queasy, cold, clammy, and dizzy. I thought the feeling would go away since it was so early. I forced myself out of bed and put on my running clothes. The whole drive up the canyon I kept telling my friend Sarah that I was going to throw up, but she said it was probably nerves. I decided she was probably right and thought once I started running I would feel better. WRONG!!!!!! About five miles into the race I was puking over the edge of the canyon road, I had to stop three times to use the bathroom, which I usually never do. I almost quit a hundred times, and I had trained so hard for this race that I decided I needed to just finish and not worry about the time. I did keep my other goal which was to not walk at all, which was really difficult. I wanted to walk many times.
This is me and Sarah after the race. It is taking everything I have to just stand up!

My mom, Shannon, and Doug came out to support me! They are so sweet to come. It was really cold for the middle of June, and rainy too. Which actually was a BIG blessing for me, the rain kept me cool.
After the race I stayed in bed the rest of day, I think I threw up at least 5 more times and couldn't get my butt off the toilet. TMI?

Jaclyn, way to go on your half marathon. I'm so impressed that you ran the whole way despite being so sick. I'm seriously amazed. I ran my first 1/2 this year too and it was tough, I can only imagine what it would have felt like if everything hadn't gone perfectly.
